Anyone have any suggestions for a good defrag tool for linux ?

Yes: Dont waste your time looking for one because you dont need one.
Linux does a very good job of keeping directories/files where they belong. Each file gets assigned an inode (read index-node) that keeps files at the address they are first given. Unlike windows they dont get plopped into the first empty bit of space it finds.

That explains why it continues to run full speed ahead..Any recomendations for a good audio player that has a equalizer onboard ?

Uhhh.... the standard one for linux pretty much is XMMS. Its just like winamp 2x exept a little more powerful.

yep, and there's plugins for xmms for just about every format that you could ever come up with that you'd need to play in linux .
