samba filesharing

so, i'm mounting a drive from my windows 2003 server to my linux desktop, and an having trouble getting rw rights for my users...
using the following script...
smbmount //servername/users /home/username/Users U myname I 192.168.254.XXX
aqsks for password and i enter it...
even as root, i am unable to change the rights of the file so that users can write to the drive.
my osX people are able to rw on the drive with no problems...
what am i missing?
