Redhat reading SCO disk
I have a SCSI drive (Adaptec controller) with SCO openserver 5 installed. Someone changed the root password; now nobody knows what it is. I installed the drive on a Redhat Linux machine (as ID1, booting from ID0) to see if I could access the files I need. When I try to mount the SCO drive, using /dev/sdb1, the only files that appear are DOS files - about 9Mb worth. There are no SCO files at all. No other /dev/sdb* device is recognized as valid for mounting. Does anyone have any ideas what else I can try to read the Unix directories from the 2nd drive or overriding the root password? I tried booting SCO from a floppy but it just wants to reinstall the OS.

^^Yes... what file system are you using. And how did you mount it.

Have you tried ls -a? (I have heard that some filesytems (on older kernels) can show up with all files starting with a . This would mean that no files are being seen by normal ls)

hmm the sco drive has the ability to boot itself correct on whatever machine it was? Is the bios/boot for it locked down where you can't log into /single and change the password that way back to what it was?
