can't run redhat 9.0
the promblem is when i start up redhat it goes through all it's stuff and then comes to a prompt. it then says user login -name and -password. then the screen flickers a couple times and it gives me a blue box and just says yes or no. if i click yes it tells me a lot of information. and if i say no it goes back to the prompt. everything seem to have loaded fine. i just booted from the cd. anyways i dont know how to get it running. if somebody could link to a good how to or tell me i would appreciate it. sry im new to linux. thanks for your help.

Have you already installed it or are you running it directly from the disc?

if so then you need to actually install it

http://www.redhat.com/docs/manuals/l...install-guide/

that's the manual for installing rh9

You might want to look at http://www.linuxiso.org/distro.php?distro=64 <---fedora (redhat community based distro) but if you want to dual boot go with fedora core 1, not 2...2 has "issues" with dual boot systems.

then most likely this is a x issue.. /me trys to remember what redhat uses by default as a boot loader..

but i'll bet its a problem with the x system. So if you can log in can you post your dmesg and any errors you have in your /var/log/XFree86.0.log
and ~/.xsession-errors

RH9 doesn't support your graphic card.
You have to download the drivers from the nvidia site
http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

After you must chose for RH to boot up in text mode, not gui mode. Then log-in, install drivers and after edit the /etc/X11/XF86Config according to the Nvidia drivers README file.
Then simply start the X server by typing startx, and that's all !
