I've installed Mandrake Linux quite a few times before, but just ran into a problem when I hooked up a secondary harddrive to my PC. The second hdd was running Windows 2000 Server, but I formatted it and am going to put Mandrake Linux 9.2 on it, but during install load, after you press enter, and get all that text, it says:

hda: lost interrupt

That repeats a few times then I get the same message but with harddrive b. It keeps looping through and I have no idea what so ever on how to make it work. It started when I got my new motherboard, and ideas?

Check that the jumpers are in the right position and not both master or both slave on the same cable. If you use cable-select, then re-do them as master/slave or master on seperate controllers.

Nope, that's not it. I just hooked up the two hdds each on its own ideand as master with nothingelse, I'm still getting the problem. It does this no matter hwat hdd I try.

Ok, now it won't even work right with my first hdd, I'm going to try with another primary master... ok even with another hdd as primary mastar with only one primary cdrom on anotehr ide, I'm still getting this error

(Windows finds all the drives in Windows no matter what)

I even tried using different IDE cables

problem solved, was diagnosed as a incompatible motherboard - motherboard: asrock k7s8x

Ok.....Just wondering a few things so this thread does'nt end in a confusing manner:

• What version of Mandrake?
• How was incompatible mobo solution reached?
• Are websurfer and aolsux neighbors or somthing?

I didnt find another thread about this on this forum is why I ask.

we're good friends, we reached this solution via IM because 1) the problem started after he got the new mobo 2) other users with this motherboard were unable to run this linux build

EDIT: I'm not sure what version of Mandrake he was trying to use but I think it'd be safe to assume he was using the newest version
