I run a server on Gentoo
Course Shiori could use a reinstall since it was my first install and she could stand some optimizations I didn't do the first time ^.^;; Plus breaking up the /usr etc into seperate drives on the 120gig drive would be helpful...little things I've learned.

the laptop dual boots xp and gentoo (of which the laptop is doing a stage 1 gentoo install currently. I decided that i knew what i wanted and what i didn't on it so make it nice and compact.)

I run a Gentoo desktop. I'm undecided on what to put on the laptop because of the gigabit ethernet port and WLAN card.

*Confused
First of all, whats the question? Which one is best? Which one do you use?

Also, mandrake is not redhat based. Its a competely separate distro.

Perhaps iXneonXi meant distros that utilize RPM.

Fedora Core 2. Yum's made life much easier, although I keep trying apt-get first before remembering where I'm at.

Yah RPM is kinda what I meant, but there are some other similarities between the two. I'm suprised I've already got all this feedback. Thanks for voting... Gee i wonder why gentoo is losing, with all the customizing and portability... Could it be that you have to read lilke a 15 page manual+ and more to get it working right and know how to use it...

When did they change that? I know Mandrake got started as a RH distro with an easier install and some nicer gui tools for new users. I don't pay either of them much attention any more since going to Debian.

Eh? Call Red Hat and ask to talk to thier Mandrake guy. lol
Mandrake started out as a Red Hat clone but have been developing their own distro for many years now. The only thing similar is they're both rpm-based.
They are no longer considered a Red Hat-based anything.

Alright let me ask then are there any /specific/ mandrake based livecd's (excluding move ofcourse) or mandrake based distros. Nope they're redhat based, Debian based, and Gentoo + some others. And I can see Gentoo jus tied the pole.
