Win98se/linux red hat 6
I currently have 2 hard drives both running 98. I would like to install Linux red hat 6 on second hard drive with a prompt in boot-up to choose which op to go to. I don't know how to go about doing this. Any advice would greatly be appeciated. God bless.

In a nutshell

(1) Create space for two partitions; say 10Gb for Red Hat 6 and 1 to 2Gb for swap using something like Partition Magic. The location can be only either disk. If you have only 1 or 2 CDs then 5 GB space may be enough. Latest Red Hat is version 9.

(2) Install Red Hat 6 (it should pick up the Windows automatically as a boot choice)

(3) Let Red Hat 6 install its bootloader in the MBR of your booting disk.

(4) Enjoy.

If you don't want Red Hat in future then just use a bootable Windows floppy with Fdisk.exe file inside and type Fdisk /mbr and everything is back to your current state.

win98se/linux red hat 6 rply
There's no way to dedicate an entire hard drive (I have two) to each operating system without partitioning one of them then? Thanks and God bless.

You need two partitions for a Linux. The swap is usable on all other Linux and is 2 to 3 times your physical memory.

You can use the whole hard disk if you like but it is quite difficult to resize Linux later. You should therefore use the space to load a few more systems. I have 10 to 12. They can all boot each other and Windows of course.
