BSD curious
Right now I am running Linux. I am alittle interested in other Unix based OSs. I have heard of BSD and was wondering if it's any good? Also, if it is any good, I have a few questions. First, is it compatible with the newest version of LILO? Secondly, what kind of compatibility is there between Linux and BSD (programs, drivers, etc...)? Finally, which version is the best (NetBSD, OpenBSD, FreeBSD...)?

The FreeBsd documentation project should answer some of your questions. (Most of it is generic to all flavors of BSD)

I tried out FreeBSD a couple weeks ago, just for amusement. I didn't dig in under the hood, I only used KDE, Mozilla, etc so from that perspective it looked and acted exactly like Linux would. Of course, its a completely different operating system, but most Linux software will compile under BSD.
