Red face network settings
I just installed a new network card into my mandrake 9.1 machine, and every time I shut down , I lose my network settings and have to go to control center and use the wizard to reset the address. I remember something about those settings being overwritten on reboot but I can't find it now, I'm using a cable modem and a router also. so, a little help for a failing memory please. Thanks.

Are you setting up the card in Control Center? I use Control Center> Hardware> Hardware> choose my card from the list on the left and run the config tool. I had a similar problem in SuSE with the (then) not-officially supported nvnet driver for the onboard nforce2 nic. I just put a modprobe command in /etc/rc.d/rc.local file.

Thanks for the reply lynch, the card is an AMD983 Linksys. and harddrake says that it is using the tulip module, and the network setup in control center says ne2k-pci. maybe it's a driver problem. can I go into setup and ask it to use another driver? I'm just letting it use auto detection, and the card works fine until I shut down, and when I restart,I have to go thru the install process again.
