[SOLVED] Linux hangs while booting on ohci1394 initialization
Hello, when I tried to boot my notebook this morning, I found the Linux (Red Hat 9) hangs on the line "Initializing firewire controller (ohci1394). Nothing was changed from the last time I ran Linux, this problem just appeared out of the blue. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

E.

Problem Solved
Ok, this is kinda weird, but I booted into WinXP and then shut down the computer. I turned it back on and Linux booted up fine. Something must have gone screwy last time I shut WinXP down. <shrug> I dunno. Anyway, if anyone else has this problem on a multi boot machine you can try this.

Hi eriznik,

I have a similar problem but in the other direction. I have a multiboot Win95, Win2000 Pro and Mandrake 9.0.
After I turned off my computer exiting Linux, my USB modem is hanging when it tries to connect the Internet while rebooting Mandrake.
I have to start and quit Win2000 to get my USB connection back on the Linux startup. I have no solution for this problem.
