Getting sound card to work
Hi,
Im new to Linux and am currently trying out the Knoppix disto which I have 2 questions about, here goes:

1. How can I get my Terratec DMX 6 Fire soundcard running on Knoppix/Linux in general

2. Can I run the Knoppix CD while XP is open

Thanks, I am an extreme newbie to Linux so if there is complicated stuff to explain please go easy!

1) not sure. Do a lspci for us and give us a printout of the chipset info from the audio card. Its a company i'm not familar with and possibly not supported by alsa.

2) the only way to do it is with vmware or the like.

You can run linux apps in windows if you have an emulator. VMware is one and many use cygwin as well. Its easier to just run knoppix on boot. Put the disk in, boot up, run knoppix, take disk out, reboot, and knoppix is gone...doc
