loss password, or maybe my mind
Well, I got the root password fixed (I think), but I stll have a problem getting into SuSe. The log-in keeps failing. Now, do I have another layer of passwords I have to figure out, or is my log-in name failing? And how do I change that? I think I'm having fun, but I'll have much more fun when I blow the OS up into a million bits. Windows can be a pain, but it really does want to play with me.

Suse did not lose your password.I would create another user and see if that works,I don't know what you have done. Not sure how suse does it,useradd and then passwd to create a new password.Google will be your buddy.

joedokes, boot "Failsafe" and log as root. Type 'ls /home' and check that.
If you get any dir, say "user1" that means the login for a local user is "user1".
Then type 'passwd user1' and change that user password to whatever you want.

If you don't have any dir at /home, than use Yast to create a new user (type 'yast' and follow the options).

See ya.

PS: be patient. Learning requires time, but the award is great
