thats good. have you downloaded knoppix. its a personal favorite. just learn how to install it by reading the guide and it should auto-detect all of your hardware and then you have a stable debian system w/out sweating.

IIRC, telus uses a small dlink adsl modem, which connects via ethernet cable to your ethernet card. If so, once you have (lynch's previously mentioned module) forcedeth up, then you can just type in dhclient (or, apt-get install pump && pump).

I'm not sure if the sapphire card is supported however, ATI has released some catlyst drivers for linux. You might want to look into them.

back to the knoppix subject if you can get it to load and autodetect and configure your hardware you know you can get pretty much any debian system to do the same. or just use that config and install knoppix. another distro but i don't know if its debian is to use mepis as it has a graphical installer that will install to hardrive after you have set up the desktop as you like it (even program settings).

I HAD IT WORKING but then somthing happend i was even browsing the web for a bit. I put the forcedeth.o into that /lib/modules/2.4.26.../kernal/driver/net folder, then i tpyed in depmod -a but it kept saying somthing like unreacheable file /lib/modules/2.4.26.../kernal/driver/net/forcedeth.o then when i typed in modprobe forcedeth.o it said file not found. Then! i typed in dhclient and it assigned me an ip and i browed the web for a bit but mozilla crashed and frooze and i was forced to shutdown my computer. When i got back on i couldn't get back online now it doesn't even know i have a nic when i do the adsl/ppoe config it doesn't even find eth0 like it use too. Could i of corrupted my nic driver when i shutdown my computer?
Anyway neon i have a live cd for suse that i downloaded awhile back and it works fine wiht my system i get internet access and i can get my res up to 1280x 1024 just cant change my refresh rate anyhigher then 60. So i can probally have a stable debian system right?

i'm about to go reinstall knoppix on my system. like keeping it updated as thats what i'm going to host my AAO gameserver on. basically when new knoppix comes out i reformat and just add the new knoppix. no personal data on knoppix partition.
