Question Problem with WINE UTILITY IN LINUX
Hai,

I am regular user of Linux Operating System. I have a PC Loaded with Linux and Windows 2000 Professional. My problem is, I have installed WINE utility in Linux and I am unable to run WINAMP in linux.

The procedure I followed:

1. I have mounted the Windows Drives.
2. Installed WINE rpm.
3. Copied winamp.exe from windows directory path to /bin in linux.
4. I have executed the command: wine /bin/winamp.exe.
5. I am able to see the Winamp screen.

But when i am selecting any songs they are not being played.

Can u kindly suggest me the solution, how to run winamp in Linux using Wine Utility.

Thankyou

Ravindra

first questions first. Have you looked at xmms or bmp media players. Both are a good alternative to winamp for linux. If you are dead set on getting winamp to run in linux well..we'll work on it. However copying the winamp.exe is n't going to do it. you'll have to install winamp on the linux side thru wine.

agree, XMMS is far better than WinAmp...
you may try Kaffeine too.
What distro are you using?

And your sound drivers do work?

I have never tried Winamp in Linux, but with it in MS the devices need to be enabled in the sound setup.

crossover office will get it working for you, but i agree with the guys...why? when xmms rocks and all the skins are portable.
