VMWare/Linux/X screen res issues
Hello, first please let me apologize if this has already been asked/answered but I looked an didn't see it...

I'm running RedHat (Shrike) ver 9 via VMWare 3.1.1 build 1790 on an Athalon 1700 w/512Mb RAM and a native (Win2K Pro) screen res of 1280X1024. I'm BRAND NEW to Linux; installation went fine, but screen res on the VMWare/X comes up as only 320X200! I've tried editing the XF86Config file manually, and using the XRANDR command in a terminal window, with no success. Can anyone PLEASE help?!

As an aside - how do I keep X from loading (so I can use the native "text" Linux environment) and/or drop from X into Linux?
