Hi, the newby has another question. I am in the process of installation of Redhat 6. Does any body have any reccommendations for a disk partition strategy. I have a 2G hard drive and I want to install SO, and set up user directories for 3 users. What I have planned now goes a little like this.....
1-74 149152+ LN (Ibelieve that this is for my root '/')
75-149 151200 LN (for some unknown partition)
150-500 707616 LN (for my '/usr')
501-800 604800 LN (maybe for my '/home')
501-800 ?????? E (Should I use an extended partition?)
800-973 ?????? Swap (This I need I know but how much, since I have 32MB of RAM?)
Well if you are confused to what my question is...here it is again....can someone show me what a good partition strategy looks like with a 2G hard drive...and should I use an Extened partition(what is that anyway?) Any info would be helpful. TY.

Honestly, I wouldn't even bother with partitioning like that yet. Just use the entire 2 GB for your / partition, with the exception of a 128M swap partition.

Once you get the hang of Linux, you can always redo your partition... I'd get the basics down before you start with all that good stuff though

They'll be automatically created beneath your / partition.

I only have 2 GB dedicated to Linux at the moment, and it's all just the / partition. I haven't run into any problems yet.
