Successfully got Slackware 7 running, but I can't get X convinced that I don't want a virtual desktop larger than the screen. Reran XF86Config and made sure I answered NO to that option, yet I still have a virtual desktop 4 times the size of my screen.

I had the same problem but it is accually very simple to solve... all you have to do is in the xf86config make sure when you set up your resolutions you set them up from biggest to smallest (like 800 x 600, then 640 x 480).

Just a tip in case you like using different resolutions at times.

Strangely enough, that didn't work... it's how I had him set it up in the beginning.

We also double and triple checked to make sure his virtual desktop was disabled in XF86Config. It was.

I read somewhere that the best bet was to yank everything except the reso you're gonna use. Apparently it worked.
