I have SSHD installed and running when i try to access it from any workstation within my network or externaly i just the get the error no route or host found. Im running Redhat 9. and my client is putty from a win2k workstation.

Firewall?

Are you using this as a nat router? One nic is directly connected to the Internet and the other is connected to your lan?

I also don't bother putting the ListenAddress in, although I dont think it will make a difference. I only use the listen address if I only want one nic to use SSH.

It doesn't have to nics nor on the other side of the router. Its a local workstation the redhat firewall was setup to let port 22 thou on the grub setup. Could you just point in the direction of agood sshd setup guide. i tryed the SSH web site but it didn't really help. And most of the forum posts i have read are how to fix certain problems not. installation.

Then you definitely dont need to have the Listen Address in the config file. Comment them out and restart SSHD, network and Xinetd. I am trying to remember if the default firewall in Red Hat is iptables.

As root, do a iptables -L and post the output of that.
