Couple of quick questions
Excuse me but I'm pretty new to linux, I've used it a bit as a workstation before but I've enver actually run a linux system myself. I installed Fedora Core 3 as a dual boot and allt he fundamentals work fine. The problem I'm having is with networking. I've got a wireless network set up in my house and a PCI network card installed in my machine. More specifically its a Dynamode WL-GI-600XA. its abit of a generic card and as such Fedora doesn't come with the specific drivers for it, I've also noticed that there is no option for a generic card in the setup options either. Because of this I can't connect to the network and therefore the internet etc. I've checked with the manufacturer and they don't provide Linux drivers for the wireless cards. Oh I've got a wired Ethernet port on the mobo as well but its too far away from the router to connect (hence the wireless). Fedora has no problem finding this.

Does anyone know how I can get this wireless card up and running or am I paying the price for having a cheap card?

Many thanks.

You need the MADWIFI driver for the Athero chips on that nic. Follow the " Project Home Page"link at Sourceforge for more info. Post back if you hit a snag.

Thanks for the suggestion but I can't get MADWIFI to work. When I try to intall it it says uudecode command not found. So I did a bit fosearching and found the package that uudecode/encode is a part of, downloaded it and tried to install that. After I do the configure (which goes fine) and then try to do mke I get errors about some of the files not ending with \n, they are the .so files so I'm a bit at a loss. Anyone got ay other ideas? If I can't get on the net with Fedora Core then theres not much point in me using as I was going to use it as a web development platform.

Many thanks.
