Linux install on a slave drive?
I recently installed a new 40 GB harddrive to my computer and i've been wanting to give Linux a try.

Can I install a bootable copy of linux on my slave harddrive and still be able to choose to boot between windows and Linux?

If so, what is a good linux distro of a complete linux n00b?

Yes you can.
Mandrake, SUSE or Fedora are the easiest to install.
Consider trying a LiveCD distro like Mepis or Knoppix to
see if Linux runs okay on your computer.

I have an AMD XP 3000+ so I don't see why it wouldn't run alright.

Which one of those distro's is free?
