Installing Linux
Hi,

I am new to Linux. I have some experience with Unix (Solaris 9) so I not completely helpless.

Currently I have a dual boot system with Windows 98 and XP. I want to replace Windows 98 with Linux.

What is the best/easiest version of Linux to use. I also want to use Linux for web dev using PHP and mySql.

What is the first steps to installing. I want it to remain a dual boot so I want to install over windows 98. How do I reformat and install Linux?

Thanks so much,

Justin

first step download knoppix

play around with it as a live cd. See what you like what you don't about it. It will also tell you how well your hardware is supported.

After that its a matter of opinion of what to use. Take a look at linuxiso.org and read the descriptions of the various Distro's.
