Angry Dual booting Windows XP and Fedora
Hi. I posted a while ago when I was speculating dual booting XP and Linux, and now I've decided to do it. I'm having some trouble installing Fedora Core 3, though. Here is my hard drive info:

Master: 80gb, one windows partition
Slave: 120gb, currently empty, but I plan on making 20gb for Fedora and the remaining 100gb for various media files and documents, which can be accessed by both os's

I've tried installed Fedora on the drive, but no matter what partition configurations I use, I get the error message that there was an error in installation (fairly early into it) and that I probably don't have enough disk space, although I know that I have 20gb at my disposal.

Any advice/dual booting guides would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Note: I have never used linux, and my more knowledgeable cousin reccomended Fedora. If you think another distro would be better suited to me, let me know about it. Thanks!

Try scanning the hard drive with a diagnostics program, I use Ultimate Boot CD, which has a nice selection of diagnostic software.

If the scan comes out with no errors, then you might try posting the exact error message that you recieve on Fedora install.

I just found this page on it:

http://www.fedorazine.com/index.php?...sk=view&id=205

I'm going to try this when I get a chance. Still, if anyone knows anything else, please post. Thanks!

I tried the advice on the page I found. When I typed "linux allowcddma", I got the same error as before (which is identical to the one found on the page). I then tried both "linux mem=128" and "linux mem=512" (I have a gig of ram) and both times the installer got as far as saying that it was going to load the nt kernel, and then it seemed to freeze (nothing happened, the DVD wasn't being read, etc.) If you know anything else that could help me, PLEASE respond! Thanks.
