Fedora install CD won't work
I'm changing from Red Hat 7 to Fedora.
With the Fedora Core 3 install CD 1, I press enter for graphic mode but it
starts in text mode, no problem. When I get to [what type of media] I click on
Local CDROM I get the message [The Fedora Core CD was not found in any of your CDROM drives] I checked the drive with an old Red Hat 7 it worked perfectly.

Samsung CD-ROM SC-140 40X

Any ideas

There is an option at the beginning of Install to verify the source files, this can take a long time but try it.
Try the Fedora CD in another machine.
Try another copy of Fedora.

1. Where did you get the CDs? If you downloaded the .iso files and burned them to CDs you should also have downloaded the md5 checksums for each .iso and checked them with the md5sum command.
2. Try using a different cd drive if you can get one.

I am having this same problem. All four of my CDs come back as failing the test that the installer runs. I have tried different drives, and burning the disks with other media. I am downloading the iso images to a windows machine, and using nero to create the disks that I am using. Is this what is causing the problem?

I'd rather not boot my old linux box, and try to install a cd writer in it. What can I do?

divorce3, did you ever solve this issue?
