AsteriskWin32 in VIOLATION of the GPL
As posted in this thread...I(I thought this would be more of a announcement then anything)

http://www.undergroundsystems.org/fo...read.php?t=200

...Asterisk, an open source, linux based PBX, has been ported to the Windows 32 bit platform. While this may seem like a good thing to Windows users, the problem is that the person who did this is violating the GPL, has not released the source, is only offereing binary only releases, and is requesting DONATIONS for the work of other coders, US Senior Op Belgarath among them.

Members of US have tried to contact this individual, with no response. People have tried to make contact through the asteriskwin32 forums, but also with no response. As well, members have tried to make this known in various irc channels and other locales, and have been flamed and ridiculed for being upset about the violations.

If you support the GPL and open source software, and feel that violating the GPL, stealing others work, and cashing in on that work is wrong, then this is your call to do something about it.

Visit http://www.asteriskwin32.com/forum and reply to Belgarath's thread, or threads there by Damin, or start your own...

Or submit these violations to Slashdot...

Or go to IRC channels and make your voice heard...

irc.2600.net #2600
irc.freenode.net #asterisk

Visit http://www.digium.com

Check this site...http://gpl-violations.org

Email Patrick DeRuel, who apparently created this port...at athoris@asteriskwin32.com or patrick.deruel@athoris.com

Email Mark Spencer, the original writer of Asterisk, at markster@digium.com

Do whatever is within your means to get the word out there about this matter. The more people that hear about this, the better the chance to have the problem rectified.

(Props to Belgarath, upon whose post I based this post... Also to War, Belgarath, and malloc who tried valiantly to get the word out via slashdot, irc, forums, emails, etc...I hope more of you can do so as well.)
