In dos I know all the commands. Verbose is still new to me and I know only a few commands. I am keeping the Gentoo disk to install on a different drive after things settle down here and I can devote a few days just to verbose.

Once all is said and done my computer will have 4 different Distros

Not what I thought; I meant you having Mandrake was'nt giving me a hard time.
I have successfully installed Gentoo after carefully studying the instructions and taking notes to follow during the install. I also had 4 meals, drank a six-pack of sodas, made and drank 2 pots of coffee, did several loads of laundry, went and did the weekly shopping, rented and watched some DVDs and slept for 8 hours. When I woke up it was done compiling and ready to use. Then I decided I wanted X and kde; lucky for me, this was Thanksgiving weekend so I had a few places to go while that was compiling. In the end, it all worked. It was fun!
Let us know how it goes.

Well, I found two great distros to practice my Verbose on. Installing Gentoo and just working with ubuntu, which seems completely Verbose based (after install I could not start the graphical interface. <gnome> and <kde> where not accepted as commands)

Next up is knoppix then I will check out Fedora Core 3. My computer is just so full of "flavor"

**Please forgive the lame Linux joke. Being a n00b, this sort of behavior should be expected.

Edit> Sence I have decided to switch from Mandrake, I dont have any more software woes, such this thread is solved.
