What Will Happen to Older Mandriva Products?
Now that Mandrakesoft was forced to change their name and is Mandriva, are they allowed to keep the old operating systems such as Mandrake 8 etc? Or will everything have to be redone to Mandriva? That wouldn't make sense, i think they should still allow old mandrake products, but everything new should be Mandriva now.
So what will happen?

Umm, it was by no means a forced change. It was simply a merger of two linux companies Mandrake and Connectiva.

What do you mean by allowed? They will still support via online update under thier old name, as far as I can tell.

I heard multiple sources they decided to change their name to Mandriva due to legal pressure and to reflect the new merger with Connectiva.

Yah, similar to what xfire experienced, 'cept xfire filed a countersuit and yahoo deserved it.
But because of that stuff, will the older products still keep the mandrake name?

Yeah, I'd guess they would keep the old name, if you mean for updates and stuff. I checked a few mirrors and they still are named Mandrake.
Everything from here on out is Mandriva (man-dreeva) though.

It's my opinion that the change is pointless, but whatever floats their boat.
