Just installed Mandrake for the first time, I've had some experience with linux before, but very little. After a couple of hiccups, I got my installation to run pretty smoothly. Everything has worked fine sofar. I have only one question though.
It's not really an error or anything, but how to work the desktop. I have my desktop's resolution set to 1126x864. It shows up fine, but its too big for the screen. A bit of the screen in each direction is off screen. If I push the cursor in that direction, it scrolls to show that portion, but hides the opposite side. It's just annoying. My guess is that the problem is that when installing, I set the monitor to be 1200x1024. Now that I think about it, thats too big for this monitor. Is there any way to change that without having to reinstall? | | Senior Member with 482 posts. | | Join Date: Feb 2005 Experience: Advanced | | Quote: |

If you don't know what to look for post the "Screen" Section in that file and we'll tell you the change you need. | | Distinguished Member with 4,327 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2004 Location: Somewhere south of Hell Experience: Bringing Linux to the Masses | | here K, this is a bit easyer-
Go to star, system, configuration, configure your computer
You will be asked for your root, enter it
Click on the "Hardware" Icon
Click on "Graphical Server"
Click on "Resolution"
It will take you to a config screen where you can change your Screen res and color depth.
Hope this helps

I ended up going into my star/system/configuration/configure your desktop/peripherals/display and changing it there. I did not need to use my root.
