general questions
1. changing the resolution in linux: i change it then i get a popup window that says it is changed but wont take effect until i restart the x server.......? what does this mean? i've rebooted but no changes happened....

2. how do i make it so i can use the touchpad on my laptop? right now all that works is with a mouse plugged in......


3. how do i set up the internet with linux? is there anythign special i gotta do?

Hit the Ctrl-Alt-Backspace keys combo. Login again.

Depends on what type of connection you have, hardware used to connect (modem, nic, etc). What distribution of Linux?

computer: dell inspiron 5100.....laptop 15 inch
os: Red Hat 9 kernel 2.4.20-8


i cant get the touchpad to work, the display the change resolution, or anythign really......................all it says when i change resolution is restart the x server and log back in for it to take into effect the new changes.......it doesnt work.....

i will be wanting to hook up via dsl modem, and on top of that a wireless connection.....however someone said that was hard to do on linux (if ur a newbie) so maybe not that.......how bout just plugging into my router, what would that entail?

one more thing! i think im gonna download fedora core......but all those mirror sites and stuff, i dont understand what i should be downloading, cuz each folder just opens into aonther one, could u explain how i would do it from http://fedora.redhat.com/download/ ?

We need a model number here....Linksys makes lots of different wireless g adapters.

You can use that card with NDISWrapper
Make sure you read thruogh the instructions though, its pretty tricky to set up.
