Hi...yet again, another Linux problem!

OK, I use KDE with SuSE Linux...I wanted to try out gnome so I downloaded the Gnome LiveCD, burned an iso and rebooted with it. It didn't work. Then when I restarted, took out the cd and tried to boot again, it came to the normal login screen, but when I enter my username and password, it just goes to a black screen, and then back to the login. It restarts the X server!

I have 3 users on my computer, rashid, user and root. It does the same for root, but only user works. Very strange... Right now I am in user typing this. (user is for all other people who use the computer). I can't even log in with root to delete and create a new user. What should I do?
Does anyone have any idea as to why it won't log me in, especially after downloading and installing the gnomelivecd? It makes no sense to me...why are they related?
Please, any help would be MUCH appreciated.
EDIT: Update, I just went into tty1 and logged in, and I can log in fine. I logged in and just moved through the directories checking everything was there, which (Thank God) it was. Oh...and I have backed up my home directory to a CD-RW...
Still can't log in the graphic mode
EDIT: Anyone? Anyone at all...? I've considered creating a new user, and clearing out his home directory and then copying my home directory over to the new home directory, then deleting my normal home directory... Sounds hasslesome, plus, I can't exactly do that with root can I? And it won't let me log in with root in the graphical interface

Anyone have any ideas...any fixes? What could be wrong?
