help with grub boot loader
hey, i'm a linux nubie and i just installed ubuntu linux alongside of windows xp. everything was fine. The grub boot loader showed both linux and M$. Well I went and decided to install windows 2000 pro. i reformatted the c drive which had xp pro on it, and installed win2k, formatted with Fat32. Now when i boot the grub boot loader isn't there. Duh, it probably go erased when i reformatted. How do i get it back? any help is greatly appreciated.

in ubuntu just run grub install again. Reformatting wont remove it but reinstalling will, as windows will install its own bootloader. To run grub install make sure the grub packages are installed and just install grub as root from the command line.

It more than likely is gone, if it was installed in the MBR windows erased it. GRUB's official install guide :

I would get a Live Linux CD and check if the Ubunto partition is still there. Windows wouldn't dare to erase a partition other than the one it requires to reside in.

The reformatting would have erased Grub, the bootloader that manages Win and Ubunto. It can be restored and edit to manage Win2K too.
