I have tried to install several versions of linux, and I get the same problem with each install. The install goes great, but when I reboot, my system crashes at the LILO prompt. Instead of LILO:_ I get L1 scrolling across and up the screen, the system will not respond to any input, even ctrl-alt-del. The only way I've been able to fix this is by using a windows bootdisk and using fdisk /mbr. This is not a real fix, as I can't use linux. I really don't want to boot linux from floppy, any ideas?

You have LILO installed past block number 1024 on the physical hard disk drive, which is what's causing your error.

The easiest fix would be to boot Linux from a floppy one last time so you can download the newest version of LILO, which has addressed the 1024 limit.

The website for your specific distro should have a package available by now.

Good luck!
