Reinstalling Fedora Core 4
I need to reinstall Fedora Core 4 because when I first installed it, the install wizard 'conviniently' left out the fact that you can't have capitals in your username. Everything was running fine, until I tried to change my password and then FC told me that my username was invalid and that I had to change it. I changed it thinking nothing would go wrong, but after I shutdown and rebooted when I tried to log in, it said that it couldn't find the /home directory or something.

My problem is that whenever I try to reinstall FC4 I get an error 'setup terminated unexpectedly' and it shuts down. Is there anyway of wiping the harddrive clean so I can install it as if it was the first time. I am a complete n00b with Linux.

I don't know why it would terminate like that, but if you want to wipe your drive clean as you said, you could go to your hard drive manufacturer's website and download their bootable CD or floppy tools. Then format the hard drive and try again.

To HenryVI, I have knoppix but when I tried it, I just didn't like it. When I bought FC4, I got knoppix free on a Live bootable CD. But, it didn't support my screen size (14") and so I couldn't use it.

To mixx941, I'll try that and get back to you.
