Problem With Suse Linux 9.3
[b]I have Windows 2000 pro XP pro in two of the partitions of my hard drive. In order to have a first hand experience of linux I tried to instal SUSE LINUX9.3. I had to type LINUX and press the enter key to start the installation process which completed without a hitch. When I tried to boot into linux it asked for log in name and password. As I was not asked to create a log in name during the installation process I had not created one. So I logged in as "root" and entered my password. But the desktop didn't open and the cursor continued to blink as if waiting for a command to be entered. As I am completely new to linux environment I didn't have any idea as to what to do. My experience with linux ended there. Then I formatted that partition using Partition Magic. After that when I tried to boot into windows I was unable to do it. So i have to format the entire hard drive and load windows again.

Will somebody please tell me how to use both windows and linux wihtout a hitch and solve my problem?

I'm running 9.1 pro and 9.1 personal and they both ask you to create a name and password. I'm assuming that 9.3 does the same and you probably missed it. I installed Windows first on the entire HD and let SuSE shrink the partition for me. - I had it split the HD 50/50 - of course if you are proficient with Partition Magic go ahead and use it. I can only assume that if your CD is good you must have done something wrong. However, having said that, and never having installed 9.3, maybe it has a bug in it. You can look here in the SuSE forum for more information http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...e=30&forumid=5
