Linux on 2g Ipod mini
Hey I recently found out that the ipod mini can indeed run linux and apple firmware but the 2generation ipod minis are not supported with native installer but I was able to aquire one that work and I must say it adds a whole new spin on the ipod, BUT, I noticed that the hard drive in the ipod gets quite hotter than normal which is not really very hot but I had friend whos ipods inners completely melted together and I wonder does anybody think that Linux on the ipod could induce this or is it just fine.

I'm not too familiar with Ipods or linux on an Ipod but I would imagine that constant use of the memory in those devices is not recomended. My Mp3 player has a small harddrive in it and it will spin up only occasionnaly to load songs, then stop. When I was copying large files to it, the drive was spinning constantly and got real hot. I don't think the components inside are able to take that kind of wear like pc hard drives and memory can. I belive this applies to the flash memory in Ipods and other players too but correct me if I'm wrong here.
