some clarification for a newb
I just installed mandrake 10, and its going so so. I managed to figure out how to install firefox. now im moving onto vlc media player. here are the directions from the site....http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-mandrake.html

now i have no idea what any of that means.
typing that information into a terminal window doesnt do anything.

i also have an .rpm file, and i believe i need to install this with a special program, so i got rpm wizard which is in a .gz format. but doing -xzvf doesnt work like it did for installing mozilla.

thanks fellas

Set yourself up with urpmi as a package manager, and try it out and see if you like it.

After you enter the urpmi repositories, then try this as root...
