Adding program to Applications list?
Ok.

I installed Opera and got the usual errors about some kinda plugin, and ingnored them yada yada yada...

I use GNOME btw and Fedora Core 3.

I want to add Opera under "Applications -> Internet" because the only way I can run it is through the terminal, or by the icon that I made on the desktop. Anyone know how to add it there?

Okay, Mandrake user here, and KDE to boot....

Not sure if there's a similar detail in GNOME/FC3, but Mandrake has a utility
called MenuDrake under Sytem/Configuration/Other.

I only had FC3 installed for a couple of days back in the summer, so I can't exactly remember what they use.

I looked and found something like it, but I could't figure out how to work it, and it didn't seem that I could add anything in anywhere.

Why not add an application button in your taskbar linking to Firefox?
That's how I bring up Firefox.

You could probably do the same thing in your menu editor (link Firefox - /usr/bin/firefox*)

* don't quote me on that

Uh.... well here's the thing about Firefox............

I kinda screwed it up.

I did something in trying to update manually from 1.0.7 to 1.5 (yum wouldn't work ), so now I double click the firefox icon, and nada...............

If you're confident that Firefox is actually installed, do a FIND to locate where it is, then right click the Firefox icon on your desktop...properties...and
under EXECUTABLE provide the path to where Firefox currently resides.
For example:

home/prunejuice/firefox-installer/firefox/

Could be different for you.

no, prunejuice is not my account's username...
