Okay, I have Linux Redhat 7.1 up and running in a dual boot situation with Windows 98. The only thing I need now are a few drivers for my hardware:

Rockwell 56k Modem

ES1869 AudioDrive Sound Card

I've checked Redhat.com, Linux.com, Xdrivers, Conxecant's main web site, and 56k.com. Any other ideas?

For sound, I'd start here http://www.opensound.com/ossfree/ or here http://www.opensound.com/oss.html

For the modems, your only hope is http://www.linmodems.org since it's a winmodem (read: software, not hardware based). I've never played with Winmodems, though.

Let me know if you need any more help. good luck!

Thumbs up I Think I Know How!
i am new at linux but had the same prob 2 weeks ago when i first installed RH 6.0/7.1, i have the same sound card and modem (external) and configured them both with ease. to setup the sound card goto a console and do> SETUP (you might have to be logged in as root) select sound config and it will run a few sound/midi tests to see if you can hear it correctly, and for the modem you need some information from a manual/benchmarging program you can use SiSoft sandra http://download.cnet.com/downloads/1,10150,0-10001-103-0-1-7,00.html?tag=srch&qt=sandra&cn=&ca=10001 . when in linux run kppp (/usr/bin/kppp) it will try and detect a modem and may ask you for some info on the modem.

hope this helps, if not goto http://come.to/linuxhardware/rh/7/1/...well&page.no=1
