I'm not sure what having DSL and installing Linux have to do with each other. Can you clarify what your concern is? | | Distinguished Member with 2,165 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: New Zealand Experience: Intermediate | | Sorry, I meant DSL (Damn small linux) not the internet connection | | Distinguished Member with 22,933 posts. | | | | I'm new to Linux but it would make sense to put the operating systems on seperate partitions---a duel boot set up. | | Moderator with 96,685 posts. | | Join Date: Oct 2002 Location: South Eastern PA, USA Experience: Advanced age & experience | | Well, the query makes a lot more sense now!
I agree, carve out a partition for the Linux distro and dual-boot to it. If you have enough RAM and processor speed, you could also do what I do, run virtual machines with various configurations installed. | | Distinguished Member with 2,165 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: New Zealand Experience: Intermediate | | I don't think I'll go the virtual machine way. So how do I create a partition? | | Distinguished Member with 2,165 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: New Zealand Experience: Intermediate | | I'm going to try Ubuntu instead since the CD came in the mail today | | Distinguished Member with 15,988 posts. | | Join Date: Jul 2002 Location: Ann Arbor, MI Experience: Advanced | | Any particular reason you want to install DSL? Its usually run from a CD or USB drive, etc. You can also run it from within Windows (its called DSL Embedded) | | Distinguished Member with 2,165 posts. | | Join Date: Aug 2005 Location: New Zealand Experience: Intermediate | | brendan: see post above yours | | Junior Member with 3 posts. | | Join Date: Feb 2006 Experience: Intermediate |
