linux qustion
HI i am new to linux but i am looking for a copy of linux that would bee good on my computer. the computer is rather old but still. it is a compaq presario with a 4gb hard drive 32mb of ram and 233mzh processor. could anyone tell me what version of linux would be best for it and give me a link to download it.

I'd try something like Damn small linux or other fairly small distro. Any current distro (like say fedora core or suse) will run slowly on such hardware. Redhat 7-8 might be another possibility but it would be hard upgrading software for them. I'd personally recommend sticking with dsl (damn small linux)

ok i have a version of linux and am trying to follow this guide http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handboo...?part=1&chap=2
but it has me lost when it says to press Stop-A when booting computer. could you tell me what to do. i am using a diffrent computer to fit the requirements.

Are you actually installing on a sparc (sun processor is where its most famous) box?
