DSL Modem Driver Installation
I am trying to install the driver for my new DSL Modem following the manufacturaturer's instructions but when I try to do this I get the following warning message about my Linux Kernel and dont understand what it means.

"GCC version 2 compiler, while the kernel you are running is compiled with a gcc version 3 compiler this is known not to work"

So does this mean I have to use a different or upgraded kernel?

Sounds like you need to get version 3 of GCC.

So what you are saying is that the Compiler(Version 3) I have is not backward compatible.

I'm reading the message as saying you have GCC 3, and they know it won't compile correctly with that version. I stated it backwards in my first post. I meant to say that it won't compile correctly with version 3, but it will with version 2.
