Angry dual boot red hat problem URGENT
I have already posted in the XP forum about this but i was informed i would have more luck here.

Ok then, I decided to do a dual boot with XP Home and Red Hat 8. I used Partition Magic 8 to shrink my C drive to about 75% capacity leaving about 15gig for Linux.

All went fine and I proceeded to install Linux, selected auto partitioning and then use existing free space. I chose to have grub installed on the mrb and finished off the install with only one error message occuring:

/boot may not meet booting constraints for your architechture.

I read somewhere that this does not matter so I continued to do the install.

Now when I reboot grub i can choose XP or Red Hat fine; Linux will boot fine but when I choose XP i get the following message:

"rootnoverify (hda0,0)
chainloader +1"

and then

_ (which just flashes forever)

If i leave it to count down and boot up automatically it just goes straight to the flashing line.

The strange thing is that about 1 out of 5 attempts to load XP will be a success, hence I can post this message. I can not do anything on my PC now without fear of not being able to access it again; unless i can fix this problem. Can anyone help?

Well, I think the first step is to get it back where it'll boot XP every time, then you can attempt to repair the Linux boot.

Boot from an MS-DOS floppy, you can get an image from www.bootdisk.com, and at the command prompt, type:

FDISK /MBR

GRUB is gone, and XP will boot again.
