Asterisk Caller ID Delay
I don't know if there are any Asterisk experts out there, but when I enable Caller ID on our Digium PSTN cards, it takes two rings before the system answers. That makes sense, I guess -- Caller ID is only sent after the first ring, I think. What can I do to get around that, though? ISDN/T1? We have only 5 lines coming in, so is that worth it? (Obviously I'll have to get a different Digium card to make it work -- any other equipment?)

Asterisk, but I suspect the same question would apply to Asterisk@Home.

Yeah, with 1FB lines the CID payload is send before the tip signal. You need a digital line for that.
What area are you in? Some LEC's are providing SIP gateways via DSL/DS1 integrated with Internet access now.
If you really want caller ID for IVR or some other purpose, and you can't get a SIP proxy. Your best bet is to get an FT1. 6 1FB lines will in many cases pay for a frac DS1. Worse case your LEC may be able to give you some add & drop, you could drop 5 DS0's for your voice and use the other 19 DS0's for a frac DS1 dedicated Internet.

It's an entirely different language to me -- I guess I'll have to find someone around here who knows something about it, but I doubt that I'll find an Asterisk guy around here who would know what card I'd need for it.
