Root user
Hi i am new to linux and have a qustion how do you get into the root user in ubuntu version 5.10. i made the user when i did the setup and i set a password and my normal account is not an administrator and i can't get to it to change it on my account.

Try the command 'SUDO' in a terminal and see if that works - Ubuntu doesn't use root unless you specially set it up; and if you did then you would know what the password was...

i did that and i listed a few things and went back to what i normaly showed when i opened it is that what it is soposto do.

what do you need to get root access for?

if a term access is ok for what you need, you can open a terminal and type "su -". it will ask you for the root password and then start a different prompt for root user.
