configuring problem
Hi i just installed linux ubuntu version 5.10. and when i go to system-administration and try to open anything there asks for the password and i give it to it and then it dose nothing so i open what i want agian and it starts to open and then it goes away. and never opens. could some one tell me what to do.

the password it wants is root password not your regular user password. this is the way most linux distros work so it protects the os against any unwarranted changes to the system.

can you "su -" in a terminal with the password?

thanks but i fixed the poblem last night i had to reinstall linux.
