Apache/Webmin apxs issues
I have an issue with my webserver, I'm trying to upgrade to php5 but I cant because theres no apsx on the server, although there was when php4 was installed. So I need to add mod_so to my apache installation - without changing anything else, or disrupting the live websites.
If I have to rebuild apache how can I do it keeping the settings it had before?

What Linux distribution do you have? Most likely there are RPMs/debs available for this upgrade. Keep in mind that an upgrade to PHP5 from PHP4 could be disruptive even without a recompile. There could very well be code that is not compatible with PHP5.

Also did you compile Apache and PHP from source or installed pre-built packages, e.g. rpms, debs?

(Hint: apxs is a part of apache-devel package in case you are using rpm/deb based distro)

I guess it is time for you to upgrade to Fedora Core or some other distribution. I would suggest using CentOS. It looks alot like Red Hat Enterprise. Fedora Core 4 & 5 should have rpm's for PHP 5.
