I couldn't figure out how to post a comment, but I'll just chuckle silently.

Like most things that are worth owning, Computers are an American invention. Look at any modern computer and you will see that the whole thing is the product of American brilliance.
When will the good people of America finally admit that the computer is in fact a BRITISH invention. Yeah Americans took the lead in the development of the computer and all things related. But that has been the case throughout history. Supersonic flight for one, but it's not important because the outcome has been for the benefit of mankind as a whole.

Linux is neither derived from UNIX nor is it American.

Linux was written from scratch as a clone of MINIX by a European.

MINIX (sometimes written as Minix) is a small, open source UNIX clone that was first released in January 1987. It is now best known for its role in inspiring Linus Torvalds to develop Linux.
MINIX was written for educational purposes by Professor Andrew S. Tanenbaum of Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, who had been using UNIX in classes he taught about the internal workings of computer operating systems. Tanenbaum wrote it because of a change in policy that prohibited making the UNIX source code available to students.

that person is so stupid when it comes to linux! They obviously know nothing about Linux and thus feel harmed by it because of their serious lack of knowladge about Linux...heh and notice how the author states in their blog entry that they feel Micro$oft is productive...yeah right! A Micro$oft anonymous employee posted a blog entry to his blog complaining about the horrible management at Micro$oft and many other anonymous M$ employees added confirming comments to the blog entry...M$ is doomed, anything but productive, and they will fall with all the mistakes they have and I'm sure will make. That person better take back what they said and read up on Linux because in something like 20 years M$ may well no longer be in the OS market for the above reasons and then that author will either have to use Linux, Unix, or MacOS . Ah...ignorance is bliss I suppose...

No that's very true, what I meant was that the Brits and the US were developing, independently, aircraft that could do the supersonic dance at the same time. We both had a post war 'agreement' to share technologies such as this. One of the major stumbling blocks was the rear wings, at speeds approaching Mach 1 the elevators of the rear wings would freeze up and not work. The british realised that by making the whole of the rear wing one piece it solved that problem. This was shared by the Brits with the US, at which point realising they would now be able to produce a 'faster-than-sound' plane they made all their research top secret and didn't share it with us. This led to the Bell X1 flown by Chuck Yeagar the first supersonic plane to fly. And we had to figure the last bits out ourselves meaning we were a few years behind. If they hadn't shared that salient piece of info with the US Air Force, us Brits, who after all invented the Jet Engine as well, would have got there first.

Somethings thats stuck out to me:
Quote:
Imagine if the State of the Union address were hacked because the TV station decided to save money by using Linux?
Quote:
foreign hackers make software called Linux which helps them steal from Americans.
Quote:
If one of your friends is using Linux or may be tempted to try it show them this article. Explain that Linux is a genuine threat and that by using it they may be opening their computer to Chinese hackers.
This below actually shocked me!!
Quote:
If you see a company using Linux, it may be that they have not paid for this software. Report them to the Business Software Alliance who have the legal authority to inspect any company's computers for illegal programs like Linux.
This guy needs a major cuppa and an open mind!!

I myself have started to use Linux more and more each few months as better software comes out, the Operating System itself is highly usable and highly stable. I still prefer windows until Linux gets all the software i need, but that will be soon
