Cool Linux on a Tablet??
Hi,

I just bought a tablet PC, an Acer TravelMate C314. I wanted to install Linux on it, and my first try was Fedora 5. I installed it, no problems, but it won't boot fully. It hangs on the line "starting udev:".

Then I tried to install Ubuntu (from CD and DVD). Ubuntu didn't even get into the install process.

Any thoughts on why this isn't working??

Matt

Will Linux live CDs run, if so will they not install and run?

The Ubuntu LiveDVD loads up no problem, but if I try to do anything past the splash screen, it hangs on the line "Booting the Kernel".

I've since gotten FC4 to install and run, but I'd still like to get something newer on this system.

Almost all versions of Linux have a live CD, and they are all free. I'd go to http://distrowatch.com and try at least the top 10/15 distros to see which ones worked and which ones I liked the best.

I've only tried the Ubuntu liveDVD, which doesn't work.

For now, I guess FC4 is okay.
