Luvin Unbuntu but gotta couple of questions

I recently put unbuntu on a desktop at work as for my workstation. I still have a xp laptop that i only use foe a few things now.
I am trying to figure out my Groupwise client and apparently it is compressed in the wrong format and I read to use a program called alien to convert it but i cant find any documentation on alien.
I did the apt-get on alien and wine
Questions
Can someone help me with the Groupwise client and alien ?
Does wine have a gui or a good tutorial for wine?
