Solved: Ubuntu 5.10 Won't Log In
I recently installed Ubuntu Breezy Badger on my G3 350. It installed fine, but when I try to log in with the account I made during installation, it makes the log-on sound, then sits with a black cursor and the brown background.

I tried failsafe Gnome, which ends up skipping the sound and showing a brown screen.

Failsafe terminal works and when I got in I did this:

sudo adduser
Name: testaccount
Password: t6q4^34tf
Full Name: UBUNTU TEST ACCOUNT

I logged off, and logged on as this user. This time, it brought up the Ubuntu Box and starts loading the Window Manager, then locks up.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
J.S.

By the way, the password is something totally random I made up for this test account only, but it is correct for that account.

Okay-

I figured it out. It's some sort of time-bug. My mac battery is apparently dead, and after being unplugged it reverted the date to 1956. I changed it in failsafe terminal and it works now!
