I got a laptop pre-installed with Windows XP and a recovery partition. First I tried to just install Ferdora Core 5, but I found out that windows is only giving me 7mb of free space. Second I got a xubuntu cd running and I tried using the gnome partitioner, but I got an error. Last I tried using FIPS, but I found out it won't work with Windows XP. Now I don't know what to do. But I know for sure that I don't want to pay out any money for Partition Magic.

What was the error you received from the Gnome Partition Editor?

Well. A grey box popped up titled error. I guess it was a error from the Gnome Patitioner Editor.

Heres a great little partitioning tool that is gui based, simple to use, and allows you to create, move, resize, delete, and format in many different file systems.

Its a live cd. so you dont have to install it, and its fairly small, only about 30mb. Just download the iso file, and burn it as an iso image, and boot from the cd. It is very similar in format and function to Partition Magic, works great, and its open source software and free. try it, i think youll like it.
